We all have social anxiety — a short lesson from the movie ‘Jexi’

As someone who has social anxiety to some extent, Jexi, as dumb a movie as it is, actually made a lotta sense. I found their social commentary on mobile device/social media addiction to be quite accurate. I’m a millennial and honestly, I rely on my smart devices for so many things. There are many good reasons why I do so but honestly, I can live without my phone/laptop a day–well, I should be able to.

That’s something I’ve had to learn to do over the last few years — to switch myself off and just appreciate life actually happening around me. Ironically, I have a Computer Society t-shirt that says “Always Online” and as cool as that sounds, it’s something we need to really look into as modern citizens of the Internet age. Can we live without our phones and disconnect ourselves from all the white noise that we’ve sadly given so much precedence over our lives? We actually don’t need to post every single meal we have onto our Instagrams or Snapchat/Boomerang every step we make.

People don’t really care about most of the stuff you’re doing but we’ve become so needy of others’ approval that we seek it before we do anything. Don’t!

Honestly, your life is your own and to live it, really live it, you have to put it (not your phone) in your own hands.
